Single Parenting Stories

When my son Jimmy was just six months old, my fiance and I split. He had struggled with a longstanding addiction to prescription painkillers and finally realized that there was nothing they could do more. My son was my biggest priority, then at the young age of 22, I packed my things and became a single mother.

I have been a single parent since my daughter was born, there are more than 8 years. I was 20 when I had it and had no idea what I was doing.Fortunately, I had the support of my parents who let us live with them during the early years, that really helped us financially, as I was a single parent support. However, this created an additional challenge, as my parents and I have different parenting styles. However, we managed to survive.

During the time that I was living with them I went to College, has a diploma in administration and now I have a job that I like a University location. my daughter and I have a great apartment, and I'm now back in school part-time, working on a degree in English (something I always wanted to do) with plans to teach in the future.Has not been easy and I did a lot of mistakes along the way, but with patience, determination and support (from wherever you can get it), I think that anything might be possible!

I am with kids ages 8 and 10. his father, by choice, is not involved with them, so I'm really, really, flying solo. we already faced many issues, including: losses, the loss or lack of proper infant care, scheduling, work and school issues. so many things, it seems.

After being fired twice (once in August 2007 and then again in January ' 08) decided to return to school full-time to complete my Licentiate. is a bit of a roller coaster ride and we had to temporarily abandon some luxuries, but it is working.

One of the things I did to help my children cope was get them involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters, who has been excellent.

I used to be a party girl, but at the moment I got pregnant with my eldest son (now three), I have been clean and sober for some time, I made my boyfriend, too, but not lasted. before I knew I was pregnant again and he was back to the lifestyle of the party.

I became a single dad about a week after our youngest son was born, and my boyfriend was eventually locked by drugs.

Naturally, it has been difficult is difficult to date, tough pay bills and even hard to keep my sanity sometimes! but I have pushed through, and finally, things are looking up.

Is one of the things that I'm really proud that I found an inner core of strength that always thought that was missing in me he was there, but he was buried, and now is leave for the world to see!
